Zurich, Switzerland (My Sportsbook) - Jaromir Jagr and Roman Cervenka each scored twice, leading the Czech Republic to an 8-0 rout of Slovakia in the qualification round of the 2009 World Hockey Championship. Patrik Elias, Milan Michalek, Ales Kotalik and Miroslav Blatak also scored for the Czechs, who outshot their neighbors 41-18 and handed the Slovakians their worst loss in World Championship history. Jagr scored the first two goals just over 2 1/2 minutes apart before the game was 10 minutes old and the rout was on. The Czechs led 4-0 after the first period and outshot their counterparts 20-2. Four more goals in the second period made it a laugher. The Czechs have six points in Group F with one game remaining -- Sunday against Belarus. Slovakia is fifth and has just two points with a finale against Norway on Monday. Only the top four teams from each of the two qualification groups qualify for the single-elimination quarterfinals. In Group E, Latvia rolled to a 7-1 win over France. Latvia, which plays Russia in its final group game on Sunday, is tied for second with seven points. France is last and has been eliminated from contention for quarterfinal play.
