Yaroslavl, Russia (My Sportsbook) - Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik has signed a two-year contract to play in Russia. According to the website of Lokomotiv, Zednik will play for the KHL club after spending the past 13 seasons in the NHL. Zednik notched 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points in 70 games this past season -- his second with Florida. He was named a finalist for the Masterton Trophy, which is awarded to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The 32-year-old native of Slovakia suffered a life-threatening injury in a February 2008 game when his carotid artery was cut by the skate of a teammate. Zednik has also played for Washington, Montreal and the New York Islanders since his NHL debut for the Capitals in the 1995-96 season.
