Milwaukee, WI (My Sportsbook) - Mike Cameron went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, as Milwaukee blasted the Arizona bullpen for four runs in the seventh to down the Diamondbacks, 4-1, in the opener of a four-game series at Miller Park.
Rickie Weeks went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored for the Brewers, who have won four straight games.
Jeff Suppan tossed a solid 6 1/3 innings, giving up one run on six hits with three strikeouts for Milwaukee. Mark DiFelice (2-0) relieved Suppan and recorded the final two outs in the seventh to collect the win. Trevor Hoffman allowed a hit and had two strikeouts in the ninth to pick up his second save of the year.
Felipe Lopez homered for the Diamondbacks, who have alternated wins and losses in their last four contests.
Max Scherzer was spectacular in a six-inning start, fanning seven and giving up just five hits. Tom Gordon (0-1) came on in relief and was blasted for four runs on two hits to take the loss.
The Diamondbacks used a homer from Lopez in the first inning to take the lead. Lopez, the first batter of the game, drove a 1-2 slider over the right-field wall.
Milwaukee, which was shut down by Scherzer, was happy to see Gordon take over on the hill in the seventh. Bill Hall walked to lead off and moved to second on a wild pitch from Gordon. Jason Kendall then stroked a single to right field to advance Hall to third. Pinch-hitter Craig Counsell reached base on a fielder's choice with Hall being thrown out at home.
With Weeks batting, Gordon threw another wild pitch to advance Kendall to third and Counsell to second. Weeks then singled to left to knock in Kendall and move Counsell to third. Corey Hart walked to load the bases before Juan Gutierrez took over for Gordon.
Gutierrez got Ryan Braun to go down swinging, but walked in a run when he gave Prince Fielder a free pass. Cameron then hit a ground-rule double down the left-field line to drive in Weeks and Hart. Jon Rauch became the third pitcher in the frame and was finally able to end the damage by getting J.J. Hardy to fly out.
Todd Coffey and Hoffman pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth, respectively, to seal the come-from-behind victory.
