Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Philadelphia Flyers captain Mike Richards will have surgery on Friday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. General manager Paul Holmgren made the announcement on Wednesday. The Selke Trophy finalist tallied 30 goals and 50 assists this season. His 80 points were second on the team behind Jeff Carter and he led the NHL with seven shorthanded goals. Richards added a goal and four assists in the first round of the playoffs as the Flyers fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. The 24-year-old signed a 12-year, $69 million contract extension in December 2007.
