Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The Arizona Diamondbacks activated right-hander pitcher Tom Gordon from the 15-day disabled list on Monday. Gordon, who agreed to a one-year contract in the offseason after spending the past three seasons with Philadelphia, had been suffering from a right elbow ailment that cut his 2008 campaign short. The 41-year-old appeared in only 34 games for the Philadelphia Phillies prior to being placed on the DL on July 6 with right elbow inflammation. He went 5-4 with a 5.16 earned run average and two saves in 29 2/3 innings. Gordon, a three-time All-Star, has a career record of 138-125 with 158 saves and a 3.94 ERA over 887 games, including 203 starts. In 20 major league seasons, Gordon has played for Kansas City, Boston, the Chicago Cubs, Houston, the Chicago White Sox, the New York Yankees and Philadelphia. In a corresponding move, the club optioned pitcher Bobby Korecky to Triple-A Reno.
