Valdosta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Garth Mulroy survived a double-bogey on the final hole Sunday to defeat Chris Tidland by a stroke and win the South Georgia Classic.

Mulroy closed with a three-under 69 to finish at 13-under-par 275 for his first Nationwide Tour title.

Tidland, who was going for his second tour win, closed with a two-under 70 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club to finish one back at minus-12.

Garrett Willis ended alone in third at 10-under-par 278 after a final-round, five-under 67.

Mulroy and Tidland entered the round tied for the lead, but Mulroy pulled away quickly. He birdied the first and second to move to 12-under. Tidland also birdied two to stay one back, but things changed at the fourth.

The 30-year-old Mulroy birdied the par-five fourth, while Tidland tripped to a bogey to fall three back. Mulroy pushed his lead over his playing partner to four shots with a birdie on the seventh.

Mulroy stumbled to a bogey on the ninth but erased that mistake with a birdie on 11.

Tidland dropped in back-to-back birdie efforts from the 10th to move to 12- under and within two of the lead. He birdied 14 but gave that shot right back with a bogey on 15.

Mulroy parred four in a row from the 12th, then birdied 16 to extend his lead to three. However, he found a fairway bunker of the tee, then left his second in a tough lie on the side of a bunker at the 18th.

"If the rake hadn't been there, I would have been fine; the ball would have rolled down into the bunker," Mulroy explained of his second shot. "Instead, I had to move the rake and replace the ball on the slope. I had absolutely no shot."

He chipped sideways, then knocked his fourth onto the green. Mulroy two-putted from 10 feet for double-bogey and the win.

"I can't say I was disappointed Chris missed that putt," joked Mulroy, who earned $112,500 for the win. "But I guess that's why you play four rounds. I earned that three-shot lead going into the last hole and was glad to have it."

Tidland had a 30-foot birdie chance at the last that could have forced a playoff, but his putt rolled over the right edge and stayed out.

Chris Smith (68) and Kyle Reifers (70) shared fourth place at nine-under-par 279. Marco Dawson, Jon Mills and Bradley Iles were one back at minus-eight.
