Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Milwaukee Brewers have activated closer Trevor Hoffman in time for Sunday's series finale against the Houston Astros. Hoffman started the season on the disabled list because of a strained right oblique muscle, and rehabbed in the minors, twice pitching an inning for Triple-A Nashville. Hoffman's return should help a Brewers bullpen that has blown six saves this season in nine opportunities. Hoffman, baseball's all-time saves leader with 554, signed a one-year contract with the Brewers in the offseason. He notched 30 saves last year with San Diego, where he had spent the past 16 seasons. The 41-year-old right-hander had been on the DL just once previously in his big league career, missing most of the 2003 season with a right shoulder injury. In a corresponding move to Hoffman's activation, the Brewers optioned pitcher R.J. Swindle to Nashville.
