Morelia, Mexico (My Sportsbook) - Lorena Ochoa, the hometown favorite and defending champion, fired her second straight eight-under 65 Friday to push her lead to three shots after two rounds of the Corona Championship.
Ochoa finished 36 holes at 16-under-par 130 to set a new two-round scoring record. She bested her own mark of 132 from last year.
Suzann Pettersen matched the course record Friday with a nine-under 64 on the par-73 Tres Marias Residential Golf Club. That moved her into second place at 13-under-par 133. Pettersen matched the record held by Ochoa, who shot 64 in 2006 and 2007, and Inbee Park, who shot 64 last year.
Yani Tseng (66) and Na Yeon Choi (69) share third place at minus-11, while Kristy McPherson (68) is alone in fifth at 10-under-par 136.
Ochoa got her round going with a birdie on the first. She birdied the fifth for the second straight day to move to 10-under.
The Mexican made eagle on the par-five eighth, then birdied the par-five 10th to move to 13-under.
Ochoa collected birdies on the 12th and 13th to remain three ahead of Pettersen. Ochoa birdied the 15th to get to 16-under, then parred the final three holes to complete 36 holes without a bogey.
Pettersen played the back nine first and flew up the leaderboard. After a birdie on the 10th, she made it two in a row with a birdie on 11.
The 28-year-old ran off four consecutive birdies from the 13th to jump to 10- under. Pettersen also collected a birdie at the 18th -- her seventh in the first nine holes.
Around the turn, Pettersen cooled off as she parred the first five holes of the front nine. She birdied the sixth, then closed her round with a birdie on the ninth to end three behind Ochoa.
Karrie Webb and Irene Cho carded six-under 67s to move into a share of sixth place at nine-under-par 137. They were joined there by Sarah Lee (70), Michelle Wie (71) and Brittany Lang (68).
The cut line fell at even-par 146 with 74 players moving on to the final two rounds. Stacy Prammanasudh (147), Kraft Nabisco Championship winner Brittany Lincicome (148) and Laura Diaz (154) were among those who missed the cut.
