Valdosta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Garth Mulroy posted a six-under 66 and Henrik Bjornstad fired an eight-under 64 to knot the two atop the leaderboard after Friday's second round of the South Georgia Classic.
The pair finished 36 holes at nine-under 135 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Brad Elder (68), Kyle Reifers (67), D.J. Brigman (67), Chris Smith (68) and Marco Dawson (69) share third place at minus-seven.
Mulroy began on the 10th tee and collected his first birdie at the par-five 11th. He parred 12, but rattled off three birdies in a row from the 13th, including a pair of five-footers at 13 and 14 and a 40-footer at the par-three 15th.
His last birdie on his opening side came at the par-three 17th when he hit a seven-iron to six feet.
Mulroy hit a wedge approach close to set up an easy birdie at the first. He drove into the water for the second time in as many rounds at the par-five second and took a bogey on the hole.
Mulroy's last birdie came at the par-four seventh. He hit a lob-wedge to 10 feet and converted the putt to reach nine-under par.
"Hitting the ball, but there's still a lot of golf to play," cautioned Mulroy, whose best finish on the Nationwide Tour has been a tie for third two different occasions.
Bjornstad tallied six front-nine birdies, but got lucky on at least two. His drives nearly found the water at the par-five second and fifth holes, but he still headed to the second nine after a tournament-record, six-under 30 on the front.
"Hard to explain, but things started off well and just went from there," said Bjornstad.
The Norweigian collected back-to-back birdies at 11 and 12 to match Mulroy in first. Bjornstad birdied the par-five 14th to take the lead to himself at minus-10.
Bjornstad drove into a fairway bunker at the 18th and walked off with a bogey that cost him the outright lead.
"I've been struggling lately so it's great to post a low score," said Bjornstad, who posted two ties for fourth earlier this year. "Went out there just trying to play a solid round and it ended up being a great one."
J.J. Killeen (70), Chris Tidland (69), Kevin Johnson (71), Jay Delsing (70), Won Joon Lee (67) and Garrett Willis (70) are tied for eighth place at six- under 138.
First-round leader Jonas Blixt struggled to a four-over 76 on Friday and fell into a tie for 39th place at minus-two.
The 36-hole cut fell at one-under 143 and last year's winner Bryan DeCorso missed the weekend by two strokes.
