(My Sportsbook) - The
Chicago White Sox will wrap up a rain-shortened yet still lengthy road trip tonight in the finale of a three-game series against the
Baltimore Orioles from Camden Yards.
Chicago departed the Windy City for a 10-game trek but the middle test of a three-game set at Detroit was postponed due to inclement weather. The White Sox split the two games with the Tigers before taking three of four games at Tampa Bay, and are aiming for a series victory over Baltimore tonight.
The Pale Hose dropped the opener with the O's, 10-3, and then rebounded with Wednesday's 8-2 triumph behind Josh Fields' two-run homer and Jim Thome's solo blast. Chris Getz got going with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate, three runs scored and two RBI for Chicago, which has won seven of its last 10 games.
Starter John Danks hurled seven strong innings of one-run ball to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Bartolo Colon will try to keep the White Sox rolling tonight and is 1-0 with a 3.86 earned run average in two starts with the club. Colon, who joined Chicago in the offseason, hurled six shutout innings in his White Sox debut versus Minnesota on April 11, then recorded a no-decision six days later in a loss at Tampa Bay.
Colon was reached for five runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 6-5 loss to the Rays. The bulky right-hander has faced Baltimore 19 times throughout his career and is 10-6 with a 3.31 ERA in that span.
Baltimore has lost six of its last seven games and will continue a nine-game homestand this evening. In last night's six-run defeat, Luke Scott homered for the Orioles, who snapped a five-game losing streak with Tuesday's triumph against the defending AL Central champions.
Orioles ace Jeremy Guthrie was saddled with the loss after yielding five runs on eight hits in six-plus innings of work. Baltimore will also welcome the Rangers and Angels to the beautiful confines of Camden Yards.
Struggling right-hander Adam Eaton will try for his first victory in a Baltimore uniform when he takes the mound Thursday. Eaton made his Orioles debut on April 12 versus Tampa Bay and was rocked for four runs and eight hits in four innings of an 11-3 loss.
Eaton then sought out redemption on April 18 at Boston, but was saddled with the loss after he yielded six runs and nine hits over four innings in a 6-4 setback. Eaton is 0-2 with an 11.25 earned run average, and has faced Chicago just once in his career as a member of Philadelphia in 2007. In a 3-0 win on June 11, Eaton kept the ChiSox in check with seven shutout innings of four-hit ball, while fanning five batters and walking three.
Chicago went 5-4 against Baltimore last season, with a 3-2 mark as the guest.
