Anaheim, CA (My Sportsbook) - Detroit Tigers outfielder Marcus Thames is expected to miss more than a month because of a severe rib cage strain. Thames strained a rib cage muscle in batting practice Tuesday, and an MRI exam showed the strain is severe enough to keep him inactive for up to four weeks. Only after that period of rest can he begin rehab, which will prolong his absence. Thames, who also suffered an abdominal strain in Spring Training, was batting .222 (4-for-18) through six games for the Tigers this season. As a result of Thames' injury, Ryan Raburn was recalled from Triple-A Toledo and started in right field in Detroit's 12-10 win over the Angels on Wednesday. Raburn went 0-for-2 in the contest.
