Arlington, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Texas Rangers activated righthander R.A. Dickey from the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's series opener with the Chicago White Sox. Dickey, who has posted a 5-6 record and a 5.90 ERA in 15 appearances (13 starts) this season, had been sidelined since June 25 with a strained right rhomboid. The 29-year old was scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Oklahoma on a rehabilitation assignment Tuesday but could possibly start the finale of the team's two-game set with the Sox. The Rangers also purchased the contract of outfielder Chad Allen, who will be the designated hitter in Monday's game. Allen hit .308 (8-for-26) with five RBI in nine games during an earlier stint with Texas this year. To make room on the roster, the Rangers designated infielder Manny Alexander and outfielder Jason Conti for assignment.
