Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - The Seattle Mariners on Monday traded shortstop Rich Aurilia to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Aurilia was designated for assignment by the Mariners on July 10. Seattle had 10 days to release, trade or send Aurilia to the minors. He has struggled this season, hitting just .241 with four home runs and 28 RBI in 73 games. After eight seasons with the San Francisco Giants, Aurilia signed a one-year contract with the Mariners in the offseason. Aurilia led NL shortstops in homers and RBI in three straight seasons from 1999-2001 and hit .324 as an All-Star in 2001.
