Arlington, TX (My Sportsbook) - Michael Young belted a solo homer to left- center field in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Texas Rangers to a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals in the final game of a three-game set.

Kyle Farnsworth (0-3) came in to pitch the home half of the ninth for the Royals with the tilt tied at five. Young, the first batter of the frame, drove a 1-0 fastball over the left-center field wall to end the game.

Ian Kinsler also had a solo homer for the Rangers.

Right-handed veteran Vicente Padilla lasted five innings, giving up five runs on eight hits to take a no-decision for Texas. Frank Francisco (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth frame to collect the win.

Mike Jacobs and David DeJesus each hit a home run for the Royals, who won two of three games in the series.

Kyle Davies allowed three runs on as many hits while striking out eight and walking five in a six-inning start for Kansas City.

Trailing 5-3 in the eighth, Texas scored twice in the frame to knot the game at five. Andruw Jones doubled to center field to lead off. Hank Blalock setup a first and third after reaching base on a fielding error by first baseman Jacobs. Jamey Wright then replaced Ron Mahay on the mound.

Nelson Cruz grounded out to second, but scored Jones on the play and moved Blalock to second. Following a David Murphy fly out, pinch-hitter Chris Davis singled to knock in Blalock. Elvis Andrus singled, but Kinsler's fly out ended the inning.

The Rangers put two runs on the board in the first inning to take an early lead. Kinsler singled to center to lead off before Young walked. After Josh Hamilton went down swinging, Jones walked to load the bases. Blalock hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Kinsler. Following a Cruz walk, David Murphy walked to force home Young. Taylor Teagarden was called out on strikes to end the frame.

Kansas City responded in the second with two runs of their own. Billy Butler got the frame started with a single, then Mark Teahen struck out. Jacobs belted a home run over the left-field wall to deadlock the tilt at two.

Texas regained the lead in the home half of the frame on Kinsler's solo homer to left field.

The Royals scored one run in the third, fourth, and fifth frame to take a 5-3 lead. DeJesus' single scored Mitch Maier with two outs in the third, Buck's single knocked in Teahen with one out in the fourth, and DeJesus smacked a solo home run to right field with one down in the fifth.
