Lutz, FL (My Sportsbook) - It took just over two years, but Nick Price finally collected his first Champions Tour victory on Sunday at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am.

Price enjoyed a Hall of Fame career with 18 PGA Tour wins, including three majors. Prior to Sunday, Price had two joint runner-up finishes on the elder circuit.

That was prior to Sunday.

"I'm just happy this day is over," said Price. "I'm going to do some celebrating now."

Price had an up-and-down, even-par 71 on Sunday in a round that featured three double-bogeys, a single bogey and seven birdies. He finished at nine-under 204 and won by two over Larry Nelson, who shot a 70, at the TPC Tampa Bay.

Hal Sutton (69), Loren Roberts (67) and Lonnie Nielsen (70) shared third at minus-six, followed by Jay Haas (72) at five-under 209 and Mike McCullough (73) at minus-four.

Price began the final round with a three-shot cushion and flew out of the gate on Sunday with a four-foot birdie putt. Things were still going smoothly after a 12-foot birdie at the third, but they quickly fell apart thanks to a double-bogey at four.

He atoned for the error with a 15-foot birdie putt at the fifth, but double- bogeyed the par-five seventh. Price rolled in a 10-foot birdie putt at nine, but bogeyed 10.

At the par-three 11th, Price hit a five-iron out of bounds on the right. He walked off the hole with his third double-bogey and found himself one off the lead of Nelson and Haas.

"That was the worst swing I made all week, in fact all year," acknowledged Price. "I was focused. I was trying to do everything and I just hit it right. Then I missed a short one on the par-five No. 12 and I said 'What's going on here today?'"

After the miss at 12, Price caught fire. He ran home a 15-footer for birdie at 13, a seven-footer at 14 and a 25-foot birdie at 15 for three in a row and a two-shot lead.

"Those birdies on 13, 14 and 15 were just huge for me today," admitted Price.

Armed with the lead, Price narrowly missed a birdie putt at the 16th. Nelson got within one thanks to a birdie at 16, but he nearly hit into the water at 17 and made bogey.

Price had a two-shot lead on the 18th tee and drove into a bunker. His second came up short of the putting surface and he chipped six feet right of the flag stick.

Price needed two putts for his first win since the 2002 Colonial on the PGA Tour. He only needed one.

"I don't think I've ever been that nervous over a six-footer in my life," joked Price, who pocketed $255,000 for the win. "I got off to a great start and really had two bad swings today and that was all and I paid really severe penalties for them. I hung in there."

Jim Thorpe (68), Mark O'Meara (69), John Cook (69), Bruce Fleisher (69) and Larry Mize (70) tied for eighth place at three-under 210.
