San Antonio, TX (My Sportsbook) - Michael Finley's three-pointer at the buzzer sent the game in overtime and San Antonio prevailed, 105-98, over New Orleans in the regular season finale to capture the Southwest Division and gain the third overall seed in the Western Conference.

Tony Parker scored 29 and Tim Duncan had a dominant performance with 20 points, 19 rebounds and six assists as the Spurs secured a first-round matchup against Dallas. The Mavericks beat Houston Wednesday, the final night of the NBA's regular season, preventing the Rockets from winning the division.

Finley had 17 points for San Antonio (54-28), which had finished second in the division the last two years.

David West scored 34 for the Hornets (49-33), who fell into the No. 7 seed and will play Denver in the first round of the playoffs. Chris Paul finished with 26 points and 14 assists in defeat.

West drained a jumper to give New Orleans an 88-83 edge with 47.6 seconds left, but Finley nailed a jumper, and after Rasual Butler went 1-of-2 at the foul line, Parker made two from the charity stripe with 13.1 seconds left for an 89-87 margin.

James Posey then made just 1-of-2 foul shots, opening the door for the Spurs. Roger Mason delivered a pass at the other end to Finley, who released the ball from near the top of the arc for a perfect shot.

Duncan was the catalyst in the overtime, scoring the go-ahead bucket and later rejecting a layup attempt from Paul. Duncan's jumper capped a 10-2 run, moving the lead to 102-95 with 41.1 seconds left. The big man then fed Ime Udoka for a reverse jam, essentially sealing the win at 104-98 with 25.4 seconds to go.

The Spurs led 26-25 after one quarter, but New Orleans held a 50-48 edge at the half as Butler hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the stanza for New Orleans.

San Antonio led by as many as seven in the third, but New Orleans closed the gap and West sank a three-ball at the end for a 70-69 deficit.

Game Notes

San Antonio split four games with Dallas this season, while New Orleans split four games with Denver...Hornets center Tyson Chandler, who has missed the team's last 15 games with a balky left ankle, had 10 points in just over 20 minutes of action...Butler scored 11...Udoka had 12 points and Drew Gooden 11 for the Spurs, who held a 46-33 rebounding advantage.
