Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - Chris Quinn scored a career-high 26 points and Michael Beasley added 22, as Miami needed overtime to down Detroit, 102-96, in a game played with playoff intensity despite the fact that both clubs had already locked in their playoff seeds in the Eastern Conference.

The laundry list of players not in action included Miami's Dwyane Wade and Detroit's Richard Hamilton and Antonio McDyess. Kwame Brown led the Pistons with a season-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rodney Stuckey added 15 points, Jason Maxiell notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench and Will Bynum also donated 16 points for the Pistons (39-43), who are the eighth seed in the playoffs and will face Cleveland in the first round.

Jamaal Magloire notched 14 points with nine rebounds, while James Jones contributed 13 points for the Heat (43-39), who will face Atlanta in the first round as the fifth seed in the East.

Miami held a 24-22 lead after 12 minutes of game action and increased the margin to 46-41 at the half. Things didn't get interesting until the fourth stanza, when the Pistons overtook the home team with a spirited seven-point burst, capped by Bynum's three, for a 80-74 lead.

Quinn scored the next eight Miami points, including a couple of long three- pointers, to keep the Heat in the game. Then, his three with 25 ticks left again put the home club in front, 87-86. He made 1-of-2 free throws several moments later, but Brown's layup with about two ticks left sent the game into overtime.

In the extra session, Quinn tallied five straight points in the final minute after Bynum's jumper had given the Pistons a 96-95 edge with 1:01 to go. The sharpshooter hit a long three and a 12-foot mid-range jumper for a 100-96 game, and the Heat held on from there.
