St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook) - Carlos Pena stroked the sixth grand slam of his career to lead Tampa Bay in a 15-5 rout of its division-rival New York Yankees, as the Rays raised their 2008 championship banners in the opener at Tropicana Field.

Pena ended 3-for-6 with six RBI and two runs scored for the Rays, who've won two straight and moved to 4-3 on the young season. Evan Longoria and Pat Burrell knocked in two runs each in the triumph, while Akinori Iwamura went 2-for-4 with three runs driven in. Jason Bartlett went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and Gabe Gross also knocked in a run.

Scott Kazmir (2-0) got the win after going 6 2/3 innings and giving up three runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

Nick Swisher hit a solo home run and also tossed an inning of scoreless relief, the only Yankees pitcher not to give up a run in the blowout loss. New York lost its second game in a row to fall to 3-4. Jorge Posada went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Melky Cabrera also drove in a run, as did Cody Ransom.

"You gotta find something to laugh about in that moment and I just happened to be the guy that everyone was laughing at," Swisher said of his pitching experience. "If that's what it takes to get us back together and get rocking, than I'm all for it."

Chien-Ming Wang (0-2) was saddled with the loss after getting rocked for eight runs on six hits with three walks in just one-plus inning. Wang struck out one.

The Rays got to Wang early and often. B.J. Upton led the game off with a walk and nabbed second before Carl Crawford was hit by a pitch. Longoria went down swinging, but in the process the runners executed a double steal. Pena then stroked a two-run double to right field and Burrell added an RBI double to center.

Dioner Navarro's single put runners on the corners, and Gross clubbed an RBI single that scored Burrell and advanced Navarro to third. However, Johnny Damon's relay throw was quick enough to catch Gross trying to stretch his base-hit into a double. Iwamura grounded out to end the threat, though the Rays had taken a 4-0 lead.

It was more of the same Tampa Bay domination in the second stanza. Bartlett led off with a single and stole second. Upton then reached on a bunt single and consecutive walks to Crawford and Longoria forced in a run. Jonathan Albaladejo was then called on in relief of Wang.

Pena greeted Albaladejo to the game with a grand slam to right field to give the home team a 9-0 lead with no outs in the second inning. Albaladejo was able to get out of the frame without any further damage.

"You had everything in this game, grand slams, good defense; it was just a well-played game all around," said Kazmir.

Bartlett led off the home third with a homer to left, but Swisher belted a solo shot in the fourth to make it 10-1.

Robinson Cano opened the top of the fifth with a single and took second on a wild pitch to Hideki Matsui, whose ground out moved the runner to third. Ransom was caught looking at the third strike, but Cabrera offered an RBI single back up the middle to make it 10-2.

In the home fifth, Iwamura walked and Bartlett singled, which brought Edwar Ramirez in from the New York bullpen. Upton and Crawford struck out, but Longoria hit an RBI single to left to make it 11-2. Burrell's leadoff homer in the sixth made it a 10-run game.

Ransom's single scored Xavier Nady in the seventh to make it 12-3. However, Iwamura slapped a three-run double off Phil Coke in the seventh to make it 15-3.

Posada had a two-run double in the eighth off Lance Cormier to make it a 10- run game.

Game Notes

Kazmir is 5-4 lifetime against the Yankees in 13 games, 12 of which have been starts...Wang has faced the Rays 14 times and is 7-5 against them...NY was without first baseman Mark Teixeira for the third straight game. Teixeira is nursing a sore wrist...The Yankees were one of the few teams to have some success against the surprising Rays last season, going 11-7 against them, with wins in five of their nine trips to St. Petersburg.
