Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - The Boston Red Sox placed shortstop Jed Lowrie on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left wrist. Lowrie, who started 69 games last season, has struggled this year with a .056 average. He batted .258 with a pair of homers and 46 RBI in 2008. To replace Lowrie on the roster, infielder Gil Velazquez was selected to Boston's major league active roster from Triple-A Pawtucket. |
