(My Sportsbook) - Chan Ho Park makes his Phillies debut this afternoon when Philadelphia closes its three-game set with the
Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Park, who signed with the Phillies this past winter, beat out J.A. Happ to claim the fifth starter spot in spring. Park appeared in 54 games (five starts) for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season and posted a 4-4 mark to go along with a pair of saves and a 3.40 earned run average.
Today's outing, though. will be just his seventh start since the end of the 2006 campaign.
The 35-year-old right-hander has already pitched this season, as he tossed a scoreless inning of relief in the Phils' 4-0 loss to Atlanta on Tuesday.
Park has faced the Rockies 32 times (16 starts) and is 10-6 against them with a 4.63 ERA. He as actually pitched pretty well in Coors over the course of his career, going 5-2 with a 5.92 ERA in eight career starts at the hitter-friendly park, while pitching seven innings three times and always lasting at least five.
Colorado, meanwhile, will hand the ball to righty Aaron Cook, who had a disastrous Opening Day outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cook lasted just 2 1/3 innings and gave up six runs and seven hits, but did not get a decision in his team's 9-8 loss.
Cook has also struggled against the Phillies in his career, going 1-4 lifetime with a 6.14 ERA in seven games (six starts).
On Saturday, Ryan Howard had a pair of hits and three runs batted in and Philadelphia used some timely hitting in an 8-4 win. Seven of Philadelphia's runs came with two outs, as the Phillies won for the second time in three games.
Brett Myers (1-1) became the first starter on the team to earn a win and improved to 7-0 lifetime against the Rockies, as he threw seven strong innings, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk, with six strikeouts.
Shane Victorino went 3-for-5 and scored twice, while Jayson Werth added a two- RBI triple. Chase Utley had two hits and scored twice, while Pedro Feliz also added three hits.
The Rockies managed only four hits in the game, with three being home runs from Clint Barmes, Troy Tulowitzki and Garrett Atkins, respectively.
Brad Hawpe doubled to account for the other base hit, while Jorge De La Rosa (0-1) gave up five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three in 4 2/3 innings.
The loss was just the first in four games for the Rockies.
Philadelphia won all five of its matchups with the Rockies last season and has won seven of eight and nine of its last 12 against Colorado in the regular season.
