Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, will host the 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The official announcement came Saturday, making Phoenix the first city since Denver in 1998 to be an inaugural All-Star Game host. "We are thrilled that baseball fans of the great state of Arizona will have the opportunity to see our game's finest players assemble at Chase Field for the Midsummer Classic," said Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig. The city of Phoenix hosted the NBA All-Star Game this past February. The event brought in an estimated $35 million, according to the Arizona Republic. "We are delighted that Major League Baseball has awarded this jewel event to the Arizona Diamondbacks," said Diamondbacks Managing General Partner Ken Kendrick. The 2011 All-Star Game is scheduled for July 12 with the annual Home Run Derby taking place the night before. This year's All-Star Game is being held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis and the 2010 contest is slated for Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
