Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones and left fielder Garret Anderson were both scratched from the lineup prior to Wednesday's 12-11 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. After going 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Phils, Jones noticed discoloration on his thumb and index finger. The bruised left thumb, which Jones said was due to taking many inside pitches over the last week, kept him out of Wednesday's game. However, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jones said he would be available for Atlanta's home opener on Friday night against Washington. Jones, who turns 37 later this month, has played fewer than 140 games in each of the past five seasons due to various injuries. For his career, Jones is a .311 hitter with 409 home runs and 1,375 RBI in 2,025 games. Anderson, 36, is a career .296 hitter with 165 homers and 782 RBI in 1,128 contests. Anderson was held out of the starting lineup with a right calf injury that he originally sustained on March 6. He appeared as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning and struck out swinging to end the game.
