Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas is expected to be sidelined for two months after a broken bone in his left foot was discovered. Thomas was placed on the disabled list last Saturday with what was described as inflammation in his left ankle, but an MRI revealed a stress fracture in the foot. Surgery will not be needed to treat the foot of the first baseman/designated hitter, but Thomas must immobilize the foot for four weeks and will then be re-evaluated. Thomas initially injured the foot running the bases during a loss in Florida on June 17. He aggravated the problem against Minnesota two weeks ago, and was unable to play against the Cubs this past weekend in an interleague set. The "Big Hurt" is hitting .271 with 18 homers and 49 RBI this season. Thomas, who has played his entire 12-year career with the White Sox, and his 436 career home runs is sixth among active players.
