(My Sportsbook) - The
Calgary Flames will try to take over sole possession of first place in the Northwest Division when they host the
Los Angeles Kings tonight at the Saddledome.
With 94 points, the Flames are tied with Vancouver for both the top spot in the Northwest and the third seed in the Western Conference. Calgary, which has four games left in the regular season, has a game in hand to use over the Canucks tonight.
Calgary has not helped its cause recently, losing two of three and four of its last six contests. The Flames have posted a 7-10-0 record since the beginning of March.
The Flames last played on Friday night in Minnesota and were shut down by the host Wild. Niklas Backstrom made 27 saves for his eighth shutout of the season to help the Wild earn the 4-0 win over Calgary.

The Flames have split their last six home games, but have a solid 25-10-4 record as the host this season. Calgary will play its next two games on the road before closing out its regular-season slate Saturday against visiting Edmonton.
The Kings have been eliminated from playoff contention and have not taken to their spoiler role as they have just three wins in their last 12 games. Los Angeles did end a three-game slide by beating Phoenix, another team that is out of the postseason, on Saturday.
LA avoided a home-and-home sweep at the hands of the Coyotes by posting a decisive 6-1 victory over visiting Phoenix. Brian Boyle and Alexander Frolov each scored twice to lead the Kings to the win two days after they lost a 2-1 decision in the desert.
Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams each finished with a goal and two assists for the Kings, while Jonathan Quick stopped 29-of-30 shots in the win.
Tonight marks the start of a three-game trek that will complete LA's road schedule for the season. The Kings, who are 15-20-3 as the guest this year, will also make stops in Edmonton and Vancouver before hosting San Jose in their season finale on Saturday.
Calgary has won all three meetings with the Kings this year and will try to complete the sweep of the season series tonight. The Flames have taken nine of 10 overall from LA and have also won six straight when facing the Kings on home ice.
