Kerkrade, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Ajax moved to within one point of second place on Sunday after beating Roda, 2-1 at Parkstad Limburg Stadion.
Luis Suarez fired the visitors ahead after just two minutes, and he set up a goal for Ismail Aissati in the 66th minute to double the lead before Roda pulled a goal back five minutes later.
The Amsterdam side is just one point behind second-placed Twente, but still 12 back of runaway leaders AZ Alkmaar.
Roda has now won once in its last four games and remains in the bottom three, two points back of both Den Haag and Sparta for safety.
The match did not start well for the hosts as Suarez was able to shake free from defender Marcel de Jong and fire a shot across the face of goal and past goalkeeper Bram Castro.
Roda's only real chance in the first half came from a left-footed shot by Boldizsar Bodor that went close, but as the second half began, Ajax regained control of the match.
Eyong Enoh and Suarez both failed to hit the target from good positions, while Dario Cvitanich's header was tipped over the crossbar by Castro.
However, a second goal arrived midway through the half just after Bodor hit the post for the home side.
Suarez played a good ball to Aissati and he tallied his first goal for Ajax by finishing nicely past the keeper.
A poor header by Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel allowed Cisse to beat goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer five minutes later, but the keeper came up with a good save on De Jong to preserve the win with less than 15 minutes to play.
Volendam moved off the bottom of the table with a 2-1 win against Feyenoord as Dominique van Dijk scored twice in the second half, Willem II doubled up on NAC 2-0 while Graafschap slipped to the bottom after finishing 0-0 with Vitesse.
