Glasgow, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - Celtic moved six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League on Saturday as the Hoops hammered Hamilton, 4-0 at Celtic Park.
Georgios Samaras scored a pair of goals, including the opener five minutes into the game, while Aiden McGeady and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink also found the back of the net for Celtic, which extended its unbeaten streak in league play to eight games.
The win also puts pressure on Old Firm rivals Rangers, who will travel to Falkirk on Sunday needing a win to keep pace.
Celtic was in control from the start and Samaras put them ahead only five minutes into the match.
Andreas Hinkel's pass somehow found Samaras inside the box through a host of Hamilton defenders and he lifted the ball over onrushing goalkeeper Sean Murdoch and into the back of the net.
McGeady nearly made it 2-0 with a 30-yard blast that sailed inches past the post, but he was able to double the lead minutes later when he took a pass from Shunsuke Nakamura and slid the ball underneath the keeper.
The pace was slow at times as Celtic dominated possession and never looked to be in danger of conceding, but the game snapped to life again in the 65th minute when Marc Crosas fed Samaras on the wing and he cut the ball past a Hamilton defender and fired inside the far post.
Vennegoor of Hesselink then came on as a substitute and scored his first goal since September when he tapped home a nice pass from Hinkel in the 89th minute to complete the resounding win.
Hearts strengthened its hold on third place as Calum Elliot scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock, while fourth-placed Aberdeen was held to a 1-1 draw by Motherwell.
Dundee United failed to take advantage of Aberdeen's draw as they too finished level with Hibernian. Colin Nish scored two first-half goals for Hibs, but United got goals from Garry Kenneth and David Goodwillie in the second half, while Inverness jumped to ninth place as they beat St Mirren 2-1 with two goals from Filipe Morais.
