Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The University of Arizona has reportedly chosen Southern California coach Tim Floyd to take over the helm of the Wildcats.

Radio station KTAR in Phoenix reports Floyd arrived in Tucson Wednesday afternoon via private jet and was meeting with Arizona athletics director Jim Livengood, presumably to finalize details of a contract to become the head coach.

The 55-year-old Floyd, who would become Arizona's fourth coach in the last four years, has guided the Trojans the last four seasons and has compiled an 85-50 record in that time. That includes three NCAA Tournament berths and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2007.

USC compiled a 22-13 record this past season, including a 9-9 mark in the Pac-10. The Trojans won the conference tournament this year to earn a trip to the NCAA tourney before losing in the second round to Michigan State.

The well-traveled Floyd has already held head coaching jobs at Idaho (1986-88), New Orleans (1988-94), Iowa State (1994-98) and also in the NBA with Chicago (1998-2001) and the New Orleans Hornets.(2003-04). His coaching mark was 90-231 in the regular season in the NBA and during his 16 seasons at the collegiate level is 328-180.

Russ Pennell assumed the role of interim head coach at the University of Arizona on October 24 in the wake of Lute Olson's retirement. He coached the Wildcats to a 21-14 mark this season, including a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament before Arizona finally lost to top overall seed Louisville.

Kevin O'Neill coached Arizona during the 2007-08 season, going 19-15 overall.
