Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - Jiyai Shin, the 20-year-old rising star from South Korea, fired a six-under 66 on Saturday to take the lead after three rounds of the J Golf Phoenix LPGA International.
Already a four-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Shin moved to 10-under-par 206 for a one-shot lead over Hall of Famer Karrie Webb of Australia and fellow 20- year-old Korean In-Kyung Kim.
Shin won three times last year, including the Women's British Open and the lucrative ADT Championship, and has already claimed the HSBC Women's Champions tournament this season.
The 34-year-old Webb, seeking her first win since 2006, shot a three-under 69 in the third round.
Kim surrendered the lead she held since Thursday by carding a one-under 71, joining Webb in second place at nine-under 207.
Suzann Pettersen of Norway had a two-under 70 and was alone in fourth place at eight-under 208.
Two-time defending champion Lorena Ochoa carded her best score of the week, a 70, but remained mostly out of contention. The world No. 1 was tied for 19th place at two-under 214 -- eight strokes off the lead.
Several players battled Kim for the lead throughout the third round, and Shin was among them. But she didn't move in front by herself until an 18-foot birdie at the 16th hole. A closing tap-in birdie at the 18th allowed her to keep the lead.
Shin finished the day with seven birdies against just one bogey.
Despite her considerable experience at winning, Shin is considered rookie this season. Her three wins last year came as a non-member.
Webb, a 35-time winner on the LPGA Tour, tied Kim for the lead with back-to- back birdie putts to start her third round, including a 20-footer at No. 2.
She needed back-to-back birdies again -- this time at the 17th and 18th holes -- to earn her share of second place. She finished with five birdies and two bogeys for the day.
"I'm really happy with my round," said Webb. "The pins were tough, so 69 is a good score."
Kim, the 2008 Longs Drugs Challenge winner, battled admirably to hold onto her lead, but she was done in by a double-bogey at the 12th hole. It came on the heels of a bogey at the 11th and dropped her out of the lead.
She kept pace with birdies at the 14th and 18th holes, moving into a tie with Webb.
Michelle Wie, still seeking her first LPGA Tour win, won't get it this weekend. The 19-year-old college sophomore, playing her first season with a tour card, had a 74 and was tied for 61st place at seven-over par.
