Goodyear, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The Cleveland Indians optioned seven players to their Triple-A affiliate in Columbus on Tuesday, including pitcher Jeremy Sowers and outfielder Matt LaPorta. The Indians also sent pitchers Greg Aquino and Kirk Saarloos, infielder Michael Aubrey, outfielder Michael Brantley, and catcher Wyatt Toregas to Columbus. Sowers missed out on a spot in the rotation after starting a career-high 22 games last year with Cleveland, going 4-9 with a 5.58 earned run average in his third big-league season. In 49 career starts, the 25-year-old out of Vanderbilt has gone 12-19 with a 5.14 ERA and two shutouts, both in his 2006 rookie season. LaPorta, who was acquired by the Indians from Milwaukee last season in the CC Sabathia trade, was batting .361 in spring training.
