Lubbock, TX (My Sportsbook) - Melissa Jones came off the bench and delivered 21 points and 10 boards, as second-seeded Baylor Lady Bears escaped the 15th- seeded Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners, 87-82, in overtime in first-round action of the Raleigh Regional of the NCAA Tournament at United Spirit Arena. Jhasmin Player turned in 15 points and five boards for the Lady Bears (28-5), who advance to face seventh-seeded South Dakota State in the second round on Tuesday. Rachel Allison added 14 points and 11 boards, and Morghan Medlock had 12 points. Baylor was without head coach Kim Mulkey, as she was hospitalized earlier in the day following a negative reaction to medication. Amber Gregg poured in a game-high 23 points for the UTSA (24-9), which was trying to become the first 15 seed to win a game in this event. Monica Gibbs logged 16 points and 11 assists, and Jordan Stark also scored 16 points in the defeat. Baylor shot 48.3 percent from the floor over the first 20 minutes of play and carried a 38-31 lead to the locker room. UTSA fought back in the second half and forced overtime on a pair of free throws by Stark with 17 seconds remaining. Jones scored eight of the Lady Bears' 18 points in the overtime, as Baylor earned the five-point win. Baylor went 25-of-35 at the foul line on the night and received 43 points from its bench.
