College Park, MD (My Sportsbook) - Kristi Toliver led all scorers with 27 points, as the top-seeded Maryland Terrapins cruised to an 82-53 win over 16th-seeded Dartmouth in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Marissa Coleman added nine points and 13 rebounds for the Terps (29-4), winners of 13 straight. They'll face ninth-seeded Utah Tuesday in the second round. Brittney Smith paced the Big Green (18-11) with 13 points. Maryland jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead, and Toliver took over from there. She single-handedly matched Dartmouth's first half total with 23 points before the break, as the Terps grabbed a 42-23 halftime lead. Dartmouth made it a 52-37 game in the second stanza, but the Terps promptly answered with an 8-0 run to keep the Big Green at arm's length. Toliver took a seat with 11:28 to play, after shooting 11-of-14 from the floor. The Big Green dug themselves a hole by missing their first nine shots of the game. |
