Heat pay a visit to Pistons at The Palace

(My Sportsbook) - The recently-struggling Miami Heat will try to salvage the finale of a four-game road trip Sunday against the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Miami has dropped the first three tests of the road swing and suffered a 96-88 setback at New Jersey on Friday night. All-Star Dwyane Wade, who missed the previous game with a hip flexor, had another great all-around contest with 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists, but it wasn't enough to stop the skid.

Rookies Michael Beasley had 17 points and Mario Chalmers 15 for Miami, which is fifth in the Eastern Conference standings and 12-21 away from South Beach this season. The Heat opened the road swing riding a three-game winning streak. Over his last 10 games, Wade is averaging 36.4 points per outing.

Detroit will try to stay on the winning track this afternoon after putting the brakes on a three-game slide with a 108-90 drubbing of the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday in the opener of a short two-game homestand.

Will Bynum set a career high with 22 points and Antonio McDyess chipped in 24 points and 17 rebounds for the Pistons, who are seeded seventh in the East and sport an 18-17 mark as the host this season. Detroit was without four of its top five scorers, as guards Rodney Stuckey (flu), Richard Hamilton (groin), Allen Iverson (back) and forward Rasheed Wallace (calf) were sidelined.

Hamilton is doubtful and Stuckey is probable for Sunday, while Wallace is expected to remain sidelined and Iverson is out indefinitely. Hamilton has missed three straight games and Wallace has been out six in a row.

The 2008-09 season series between Miami and Detroit is tied at a game apiece and the two teams will meet again on April 15 in South Beach. The Heat ended a six-game losing streak in the series with a 103-91 victory back on February 24 in Miami, but the Pistons have won 17 of the previous 21 matchups.

Miami has lost six straight and 11 of its last 12 trips to The Palace.
