Los Angeles, CA (My Sportsbook) - Ashley Walker scored 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the fourth-seeded California Golden Bears to a 70-47 victory over the 13th-seeded Fresno State Bulldogs in first round play of the NCAA Tournament. Alexis Gray-Lawson added 14 points for California (26-6), while Lauren Greif contributed 11 points in the win. LaShay Fears posted 18 points for Fresno State (24-9), while Marnique Arnold collected a game-high 11 caroms in the loss. Cal limited the Bulldogs to a pathetic 33.3 percent shooting effort from the floor in the opening half and went into the break with a 30-21 lead. The Golden Bears opened the second stanza with a 19-4 run, and shot a solid 42.9 percent from the field over the last 20 minutes of action, en route to the 23-point victory. California made 17-of-24 attempts from the foul line in the contest, while the Bulldogs connected on just 7-of-9 shots from the charity stripe. The Golden Bears will now take on Virginia in second round action.
