Surprise, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The Texas Rangers signed left-handed pitcher Jimmy Gobble to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team announced Saturday. The 27-year-old Gobble was released Friday by Kansas City. Gobble has had success against left-handed batters over the past three seasons, holding them to a .236 average, including a .200 mark last year. Gobble appeared in 39 games last year and was 0-2 with an 8.81 ERA. In 235 career games -- 43 starts -- Gobble has a 22-23 record with a 5.23 earned run average. Gobble spent the majority of the previous five seasons in the majors with the Royals. He made his major league debut in 2003.
