Rotterdam, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Sparta enters this weekend only one point above the bottom three, and the club will carry a four-game losing skid into its match with Heracles on Saturday.
The four-game slide, which includes a 5-1 defeat to Heerenveen last time out, has dropped Sparta into 15th, leaving manager Foeke Booy with the difficult task of turning things around.
Booy is set to become the technical director at Utrecht after the season, but he must first ensure that Sparta remains in the top flight, something that will be much easier with three points on Saturday.
Heracles is just one spot above Sparta, but they have earned four points from their last three games to sit three clear of their opponents, and four above the relegation zone.
Booy will have to do without the services of Charles Dissel, who will miss the clash with a broken foot, while Sander van Gessel, Edwin van Bueren and Harald Wapenaar are also out.
Heracles will be missing Karim Bridji (knee), Sebastiaan Steur (groin) and Ricky van den Bergh (suspended).
On Friday, Graafschap moved off the bottom of the table and to within one point of Sparta with a surprising 2-0 win over fourth-placed Heerenveen. Ben Sahar and Peter Jungschlager scored the goals for Graafschap, which prevented Heerenveen from taking over third place with the win.
Saturday's other two matches feature PSV Eindhoven trying to snap a three-game winless streak when they host Vitesse and Willem II visiting NEC.
On Sunday, leaders AZ Alkmaar host Feyenoord, second-placed Twente entertains Groningen, Ajax hits the road to meet NAC, Roda and Den Haag square off at Parkstad Limburg Stadion and second-from-the-bottom Volendam plays host to Utrecht.
