Chapel Hill, NC (My Sportsbook) - North Carolina head coach Roy Williams reiterated a grim outlook on point guard Ty Lawson's availability for the Tar Heels' NCAA Tournament opener against Radford on Thursday. "There is a huge, huge probability that Ty will not play tomorrow," Williams said. "We're still trying to wait and see. He was not able to do the things that I wanted him to do in practice. So some things would have to change drastically before I would change my mind on that." Lawson participated in practice drills Tuesday and Wednesday and while Williams hasn't ruled out a return for Thursday's 2:50 p.m. (et) tip, he was definitive in that Lawson would be limited. "I'm as discouraged at this moment as I have been since it happened," Williams said on Tuesday. "I'm a little surprised by the severity of it. I really expected it to respond quicker than it has. There's absolutely no way he will be 100 percent." Lawson, the ACC Player of the Year, averaged 15.9 points with 6.5 assists and 59 steals this season. The 5-foot-11 junior helped the second-ranked Tar Heels to a regular-season record of 27-3 with a 13-3 conference mark and an outright ACC regular-season title before sitting out the conference tournament due to the injury.
