Amsterdam, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Tyrone Mears scored the series winner in the 105th minute as Marseille edged Ajax, 4-3, on aggregate in the UEFA Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday. Marseille won the first leg 2-1, but Dutch side Ajax responded with goals from Eyong Enoh and Miralem Sulejmani to tie the series at 3. With the series tied on aggregate and away goals after regulation at Amsterdam ArenA, extra time was necessary and Mears scored to wrap up a spot in the final eight for the French club. Mears ran under a pass from Mamadou Samassa and headed the ball into the lower- right corner. Mears' goal tied the match at 2, and put Marseille through on the aggregate score. Also Wednesday, Sebastien Prodl and Claudio Pizarro scored in the first half as Werder Bremen jumped out to a quick two-goal lead and held on for a 2-2 draw to advance on aggregate, 3-2, over St. Etienne. On Thursday, Dynamo Kyiv visits Metalist Kharkiv. CSKA Moscow visits Shakhtar Donetsk, Udinese visits Zenit St. Petersburg, Hamburg visits Galatasaray, PSG visits Braga, and Manchester City visits AaB.
