Owings Mills, MD (My Sportsbook) - The Baltimore Ravens have released cornerback Samari Rolle. Rolle spent the past four years with Baltimore after playing his first seven NFL seasons with Tennessee. He was limited to just 10 games in 2008 because of a neck injury that required surgery and notched three interceptions with 23 tackles. "We did release Samari today after coach John Harbaugh and I had a very good meeting with him," said Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome. "When we talk about the type of person we want as a Raven, we talk about a player like Samari. He's smart, tough, works hard and made us a better team. When you talk about a player having courage, you point to Samari and what he has fought through the last few years. He's a special guy. There will be other teams who will make a run at him now, but we have not closed the door on bringing him back to the Ravens at some point." In 48 games with the Ravens, Rolle notched eight interceptions, a sack, two forced fumbles and 145 tackles. He started every game in his first two seasons with the club, but made just six appearances during the 2007 season after being diagnosed with epilepsy. Rolle has 31 interceptions in his career, including a career-high seven picks in 2000 when he was selected to his only Pro Bowl. The Ravens also made it official with free agent cornerback Chris Carr, a four-year veteran who played his first three seasons with Oakland before spending the 2008 campaign the Tennessee. Carr has 82 tackles and two interceptions in 64 NFL games, and has also been a valuable special teams performer. He has averaged 24.7 yards on kickoffs and 7.1 yards on punt returns.
