San Diego, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Diego Padres agreed to a minor league deal with relief pitcher Duaner Sanchez on Sunday. The right-hander went 5-1 with a 4.32 earned run average in 66 games last year for the Mets. Sanchez had missed the entire 2007 season after surgery for a right shoulder injury that occurred in spring training. He also missed the final two months of the 2006 campaign because of a shoulder injury suffered in a taxi cab accident in Florida. The 29-year-old was acquired by the Mets as part of a four-player trade from the Los Angeles Dodgers on January 4, 2006 and had a 5-1 record with a 2.60 ERA during the '06 season prior to the accident. Over six major league seasons, Sanchez is 18-10 with a 3.91 ERA in 276 appearances, all out of the bullpen, with Arizona, Pittsburgh, the Dodgers and Mets.
