Winnipeg, MB (My Sportsbook) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed defensive tackle Doug Brown and offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte to contract extensions on Friday. The 6-foot-8, 290-pound Brown is a New Westminster, British Columbia native and the reigning East Division Defensive Player of the Year. "Doug has demonstrated that he is an outstanding football player and an outstanding person. He's handled himself with great poise and dignity during his time in Winnipeg," said Bombers head coach Mike Kelly Brown, 34, is a five-time All-Star and last season recorded 43 tackles, six sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while starting all 18 regular season games for Winnipeg. LaBatte, the sixth overall pick in the 2008 CFL Canadian Draft, started all but one regular season game in his rookie year with Winnipeg. "This extension is great for the future of the club as well as Brendon's future. We expect him to follow in the footsteps of guys like Doug Brown and Chris Walby," said club president Lyle Bauer.
