Barcelona, Spain (My Sportsbook) - The Brawn GP Formula One team made its debut Monday in the first day of testing at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya, with Jenson Button turning in the fourth-quickest time at one minute, 21.140 seconds. Button completed 82 laps over the course in his new BGP 001 car. "It has been a good first day," Button said. "I'd like to start by thanking everyone at the team for all the hard work that has contributed to getting us here today. We have enjoyed a positive opening day of running at our first test and achieved a total of 82 laps, which we are all very pleased with." Rubens Barrichello will share driving responsibilities with his Brawn GP teammate over the four-day test. Barrichello will test the car Tuesday. BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld posted the fastest time at 1:20.338. Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was second, followed by Toyota's Jarno Trulli. Honda and Ross Brawn announced last week they had reached an agreement to secure the future of the former Honda Racing team in F1, with the Japanese auto manufacture passing ownership to team principle Brawn effective immediately. Honda announced in December it was pulling out of F1 competition and selling its team due to global economic conditions. The 2009 F1 season begins March 29 in Melbourne, Australia.
