(My Sportsbook) - Now is not the time for the
Phoenix Suns to play poor
basketball as they try to make a push towards a playoff berth.
Tonight the Suns will resume a three-game homestand versus MVP candidate LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at US Airways Center. Phoenix lost all four games on a recent road trip before suffering a 122-117 loss versus Dallas in the opener of the homestand on Tuesday in the desert.
Two-time MVP Steve Nash finished with 23 points and 13 assists, while Matt Barnes and Shaquille O'Neal added 21 points apiece for the Suns, who are 5 1/2 games off the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. Leandro Barbosa scored 18 points and Jason Richardson notched 16 and seven boards in defeat.
Phoenix last lost six straight in January 2005 and fell to 19-12 as the host this season. It will also welcome Oklahoma City to town on the residency.
Cleveland, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, will continue a three-game road trip Thursday and has won two straight and six of its last seven games. In Tuesday's 87-83 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center, James recorded the 22nd triple-double of his career with 32 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas posted 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Cavaliers, who improved to 20-4 against Western Conference teams this season and 22-12 away from home. Mo Williams tallied 14 points in the win.
The Central Division-leading Cavs will also visit Sacramento on the current road swing.
Cleveland defeated Phoenix, 109-92, in the first meeting this season on February 11 at Quicken Loans Arena behind Williams' career-high 44 points. The Suns had a four-game winning streak stopped with the loss, but have won 15 of the previous 19 meetings.
The Cavs have lost nine straight at Phoenix.
