Foxborough, Mass. (My Sportsbook) - The New England Patriots added to their secondary with the signing of veteran cornerback's Shawn Springs and Leigh Bodden on Wednesday. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. Springs, 33, spent the past five seasons with Washington after playing his first seven years with Seattle. Last season Springs missed seven games with a calf injury and finished the campaign with 36 tackles and one interception. In his five seasons with the Redskins he picked off 12 passes, notched seven sacks and recorded 250 tackles. The 27-year-old Bodden has played in 75 career games with 53 starts over his six-year career. He has recorded 287 tackles, 13 picks, 56 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and 30 special teams tackles. Last season with Detroit, Bodden started 15 of 16 contests and tied for fifth on the team with 80 tackles. He also tied for the team lead with three forced fumbles and tied the club best with two fumble recoveries. The 6-foot-1, 193- pounder also spent time with Cleveland (2003-07).
