SERG-ING TO VICTORY
Sergio Lizarraga pitched a complete-game shutout and went 2-for-4 with two RBI as the El Paso Diablos defeated the Round Rock Express, 12-0, in a Texas League West Division game Tuesday night. With the win, El Paso improved to 7-13 in the second half of the Texas League season while Round Rock slipped to 10-10. Lizarraga (2-7) surrendered five hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five in nine scoreless innings. At the plate, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Marland Williams went 4-for-6 with three RBI and scored two runs and Carlos Quentin and Todd West had two RBI each to lead El Paso. Losing pitcher Wandy Rodriguez (9-3) was touched for four runs on nine hits in five innings.
CROSSED UP
Ambiorix Concepcion scored the only run of the game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Williamsport Crosscutters 1-0 in a wild affair Tuesday. Concepcion nailed a one-out single up the middle to get the rally started and advanced two bases after he stole second and reached third on a throwing error by the catcher. Then an amazing scene broke out as Williamsport pitcher Jason Quarles unleashed a wild pitch while attempting to intentionally walk Cyclones' hitter Tyler Davidson. The wild pitch allowed Concepcion to score the winning run. Eddy Camacho (1-0) picked up the win with one inning of scoreless relief. Quarles (0-3) took the loss after he uncorked the wild pitch. Quarles gave up one unearned run on one hit, walked two, and struck out one in 1 1/3rd innings of work. The teams combined for just seven hits in the game.
JUPITER GOT HAMMERED
Mike Floyd smacked an RBI double in the top of the tenth inning that plated Ryan Barthelemy with the winning run as the Clearwater Threshers edged the Jupiter Hammerheads 5-4 in 10 innings Tuesday. Barthelemy started the inning with a leadoff single and one batter later Floyd drove him in. Floyd went 3- for-5 on the day with a double, triple, one RBI, and one run scored to lead Clearwater. Barthelemy finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Ryan Hutchison (3-3) picked up the win with 1 1/3rd scoreless innings. Ruddy Lugo (1-6) took the loss after he allowed one earned run on two hits in one inning of work. Miguel Quintana chipped in a home run and two RBI in the win for Clearwater. He went 2-for-4 and also scored two runs. James Shanks and Jeremy Hermida each had two hits and one RBI in the loss for Jupiter.

Michael Nickeas reached base on an error by Eugene's third baseman and two runs came around to score in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Spokane Indians shocked the Emeralds 7-6 Tuesday night. Brandon Boggs started the rally by being hit by a pitch and advanced to second on Travis Metcalf's fielders choice to set up the crazy finale. Nickeas finished 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run scored to lead Spokane's offense. Jarrad Burcie (2-0) picked up the win in relief with 1 1/3rd innings of one-run ball. He gave up one hit and fanned three batters. Brian Burks (1-1) allowed two runs without recording an out to take the loss for Eugene. Timothy Hulett chipped in a 3-for-5 effort with two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored for Spokane. Lachlan Dale hit his sixth homer and drove in two runs to lead the Emeralds offense. He finished 1-for-4 with one run scored.

Jon Weber and John Baker combined for four hits and three RBI to lead the Midland offense and Drew Dickinson tossed seven shutout innings to record his third victory as the RockHounds blanked the San Antonio Missions 7-0 in game two to earn the doubleheader sweep. With the sweep, Midland takes the four-game series 3-1. Midland was victorious in game one 5-3 in 11 innings. Weber and Baker each smacked RBI hits in the first inning as Midland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Weber went 2-for-4 on the day with two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored while Baker finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. The two runs in the first innings proved to be all the offense the RockHounds would need as Dickinson (3-9) stymied the Missions' offense over seven innings. Dickinson scattered five hits over his seven innings, walked four batters, and struck out four. Chris Buglovsky (4-3) took the loss for San Antonio after he gave up six runs, five earned, on nine hits in just 4 1/3rd innings. He walked one batter and struck out two in his outing. John McCurdy chipped in a double, one RBI, and one run scored in the win. He went 2-for-2 in the game. Hunter Brown recorded three of the six San Antonio hits as he went 3-for-3.
