Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - Aaron Brooks set a career high with 30 points, including the go-ahead layup with 7.3 seconds left, to lead the Houston Rockets to their 11th consecutive home win, a 116-112 triumph against the Phoenix Suns.

Ron Artest added 21 points and six rebounds for the Rockets, who have won three of four and nine of 11 overall. Luis Scola recorded 15 points and 11 boards while Carl Landry scored 16.

Yao Ming totaled 15 points, 13 rebounds and tied a season high with six assists in the win.

Steve Nash set a season high with 32 points and doled out 13 assists for the Suns, who moved to 0-3 on a four-game road trip. Leandro Barbosa poured in 24 points and Jason Richardson scored 14 in defeat.

Shaquille O'Neal and Matt Barnes totaled 17 points each, with Barnes adding nine rebounds.

Leading 108-106 late in the game, Artest hit a fadeaway jumper with 65 seconds left to give Houston a four-point cushion.

Barbosa answered with a three from the top of the arc to make it 110-109, but Brooks then dropped a layup for a three-point Rockets lead.

Nash then came down and drained a three-pointer from a pick-and-roll with O'Neal to tie it up with 30.5 ticks remaining.

The Rockets came down and worked the ball around before Brooks drove the lane and finagled a driving layup by an unsuspecting O'Neal to give the home team a 114-112 lead with 7.3 seconds left.

"The shot clock was running down, coach called for a rip screen and I wanted to get Shaq in it," said Brooks. "I was a little bit too close and I got a little bit past him and layed it up and I was relieved."

Following a timeout, Nash took a three from the top over Yao but the bid caromed off the rim and Artest grabbed the board and was fouled to seal the deal.

"The shot felt good, I had a good look at it," said Nash. "It was straight on and I didn't know if I would get a better look. I just had a go at it."

The Rockets were up 23-18 after the first quarter and increased that lead to 56-46 at the break.

Barnes' three-pointer cut the deficit to 72-68 with 4:03 left in the third. Moments later, Louis Amundson's two layups tied the game at 75.

Houston led 81-76 heading into the fourth quarter.

Barbosa's two free throws and Richardson's reverse layup closed the gap to 94-90 with 5:34 left to play.

The teams traded baskets before O'Neal's three-point play and Barbosa's layup cut it to 105-104 with 2:40 left in the game.
