Buffalo, NY (My Sportsbook) - The Buffalo Sabres shored up their goaltending situation on Wednesday, acquiring Mikael Tellqvist from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for a 2010 fourth-round draft pick. Tellqvist has served as the Coyotes' backup netminder to Ilya Bryzgalov this season, posting a 7-5-1 mark in 15 games (13 starts) with a 2.86 goals against average and .907 save percentage. In 107 career games -- 90 of those starts -- with Phoenix and Toronto, the 29- year-old Tellqvist is 43-40-8 with two ties, a 3.04 GAA, .897 save percentage and six shutouts. The Sabres added depth to their goaltending position as they continue to chase a playoff spot. Just three points out of the postseason picture, Buffalo has been without No. 1 netminder Ryan Miller for the last three games due to a high left ankle sprain that landed him on injured reserve. Patrick Lalime has started in Miller's place over the last three games, going 0-2-1 and allowing six goals since Miller's injury.
