New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - The New Jersey Nets' Devin Harris and David West of the New Orleans Hornets have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending March 1. Harris led the league in scoring at 35.7 points per game, and was second in the Eastern Conference in assists with 9.3 per contest, leading New Jersey to a 2-1 mark. Harris scored 39 points, including the game-winning shot from half-court in a 98-96 win over Philadelphia on February 23 and recorded his third 40-plus game of the season with a 42-point effort in a 111-99 win over Chicago on Feb. 25. Harris became the fourth player in franchise history to record 39-plus points in consecutive games, and is the second player to do so this season, joining Cleveland's LeBron James. West helped guide the Hornets to a perfect 4-0 week, averaging a team-best 28.5 points to go along with 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. West posted three point-rebound double-doubles, including two 30-10 games. He scored the first 14 points for New Orleans to start the fourth quarter in its 99-96 win over the Nets on March 1, finishing with 32 points and 11 rebounds. Other nominees included Charlotte's Boris Diaw, Cleveland's Zydrunas Ilgauskas and LeBron James, Golden State's Stephen Jackson, Indiana's Troy Murphy, the Los Angeles Clippers' Zach Randolph, Miami's Dwyane Wade, Phoenix's Shaquille O'Neal and San Antonio's Tony Parker.
