Port St. Lucie, FL (My Sportsbook) - The examination that New York Mets ace Johan Santana was scheduled to have for his left elbow Monday in New York has now been canceled. The team had planned for Santana, who had been experiencing soreness in his elbow and was scratched from a start in a "B" game this past Friday, to travel to New York for a mostly precautionary examination. But Santana apparently felt good enough after a 31-pitch session in the bullpen Sunday to have the trip canceled, and he will remain with the Mets at spring training. Santana is entering his second season with the Mets. The two-time AL Cy Young winner with Minnesota posted a record of 16-7 with a 2.53 earned run average last year with New York.
