Vancouver, BC (My Sportsbook) - Roberto Luongo made 20 saves and Steve Bernier netted the game-winner in the middle of the third period, as the Vancouver Canucks clipped the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-1, at General Motors Place.

Alexander Edler added a power-play goal for the Canucks, who posted a 9-2-0 record in the month of February.

"It took us a little while to get our legs going, but we found a way to win," said Luongo.

Rookie Steven Stamkos had the lone tally for Tampa Bay, which is 0-8-1 with a pair of ties all-time in Vancouver since entering the league prior to the 1992-93 season.

"We came ready to play and we battled them hard," said Lightning forward Mark Recchi.

Karri Ramo was the hard-luck loser after stopping 23-of-25 shots for the Lightning, who have dropped six of their last seven overall.

Vancouver opened the scoring on the power play. Edler crept into the high slot and drilled a shot behind a screened Ramo at 11:41 of the first period.

Stamkos evened things up with 5:24 to play in the middle stanza, but the home team regained the lead near the midway point of the third period on a fortuitous carom.

Bernier came around the left post and his backhander deflected off Vincent Lecavalier's skate in the low slot and eluded a stunned Ramo at the 9:26 mark.

Tampa Bay pressed for the tying marker in the final minute, pulling Ramo for an extra skater, but couldn't solve Luongo.

Recchi picked up an assist on Stamkos' tally to move into sole possession of 15th place on the all-time points list (1,421)...The Lightning have dropped seven straight on the road...Before the game, Vancouver claimed defenseman Ossi Vaananen off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
