Jacksonville, FL (My Sportsbook) - The
Jacksonville Jaguars signed center Brad Meester and cornerback Scott Starks on Friday.
The length and terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Meester has been a rock on the offensive line for the Jaguars since the team drafted him in the second round out of Northern Iowa in 2000.
Last season was a bit tough for him, though, as he was injured in the preseason and missed the first six games of the regular season. However, he returned to start the final 10 games of the campaign.
In his nine-year career, he has played in 129 games, all starts, ranking third in team history in that category.
"This is definitely where we want to stay, my wife and I, and we're just so thankful to get the opportunity to be able to come back here," Meester said. "I'm thankful to Mr. Weaver and Jack (Del Rio) and Gene (Smith) for giving us a chance. I'm excited about being back here and about this upcoming season."
Starks only played in one game last season as he tore his ACL during Week 3 of the campaign. Over his four seasons in the NFL, all with Jacksonville, he has 64 tackles and two interceptions.
Also on Friday, the team released defensive end Paul Spicer.
The 10-year veteran has spent the past nine seasons with Jacksonville, and, in his career, he has appeared in 117 games and has 252 tackles, 28 1/2 sacks and one interception.
